Margot Café & Bar

This French-inspired café makes you feel like you’re a world away from Nashville.

Margot is a French-inspired café with a Southern flare. The cute, European atmosphere is what does it for me. You feel like you’re in a different country and time zone in here. To drink, they have coffee, lattes, tea, etc and cocktails, beer, or cider. We went for breakfast, but they also serve lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekend.

To eat, I got the Croissant French Toast, and my husband got the Breakfast Sandwich (egg, bacon, and cheese on a croissant). Mine was delicious, but he wasn’t crazy about his. He is a super picky eater (the bacon was too soft and, “why is there aioli on this?”), and since this place is French-inspired, be aware that picky, American food-lovers might not be thrilled. There’s always a Chocolate Croissant option for these people, though! That’s what we should have gone with.

Reservations are recommended, but they do take walk-ins for their patio seating. We made reservations and once we got there, they let us decide if we wanted inside or outside. I would have loved to sit outside on their adorable patio, but it was really hot the day we went, so we opted for inside (which was actually just as cute!).

Sky Blue Cafe

Sky Blue Cafe in East Nashville is a teeny tiny, cozy spot to grab an awesome breakfast.

Sky Blue Cafe in East Nashville is a teeny tiny, cozy spot to grab an awesome breakfast. They used to have brunch with drinks like Mimosas and Bloody Marys, which I’m sure will return, but right now due to COVID, they are only taking to-go orders. It’s still a great spot to get breakfast and coffee to go. Enjoy a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, or a latte in the open field or picnic tables across the street.

Highland Brewing

Tyler and I tried out their rooftop bar for the first time on a not-too-chilly fall night this past Wednesday, and we loved it.

Let’s talk about Highland Brewing. It’s the best. My favorite beer in the entire world, Cold Mountain, will be released next week! If you haven’t had it, OMG, I feel sorry for you. Their Gaelic Ale is also one of my favorite beers ever, and it’s a little easier to get your hands on. If you are truly gluten intolerant, they also have wine and cider available!

Tyler and I tried out their rooftop bar for the first time on a not-too-chilly fall night this past Wednesday, and we loved it.  I ordered a White Ale and then a Gaelic of course, and Tyler got a couple of IPAs. The view was beautiful, the beer was good as always, and they have a food truck available every day of the week. On their calendar on their website, they conveniently let you know if and when the rooftop is open and what food truck is there that day (why don’t more breweries do this!?) We’d never had Tin Can Pizzeria, but we could tell we liked it, because we ate every last bite.

So if you’re an Asheville Native and haven’t visited Highland lately, you should! Non Asheville Natives… try it the next time you’re here! …Orrrr simply drool over this picture of pizza and beer.
