They’re closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

Breakfast burritos, tacos, queso, totchos, and a Green Chile Burger? This is the restaurant of my dreams.
Redheaded Stranger in East Nashville is known for their breakfast tacos, Totchos, and their Green Chile Cheeseburger. Weird combo? Maybe. But it’s all awesome. Some even say this place has the best burger in all of Nashville. I’ve only tried their breakfast burrito, and it was fabulous, so I’m definitely going back to try the burger. They also have Queso, iced coffee, mimosas, margaritas, beer and more. Their inside is uniquely decorated; think old-school diner with light pink and blue everywhere. They also have ample outdoor seating if you’d rather do that! Wherever you choose to sit, it will be picture-worthy; this is the perfect vintage photoshoot spot.
A Local’s Tip: Be sure to try their signature hot sauces! Very spicy and very good.

This French-inspired café makes you feel like you’re a world away from Nashville.
Margot is a French-inspired café with a Southern flare. The cute, European atmosphere is what does it for me. You feel like you’re in a different country and time zone in here. To drink, they have coffee, lattes, tea, etc and cocktails, beer, or cider. We went for breakfast, but they also serve lunch, dinner, and brunch on the weekend.
To eat, I got the Croissant French Toast, and my husband got the Breakfast Sandwich (egg, bacon, and cheese on a croissant). Mine was delicious, but he wasn’t crazy about his. He is a super picky eater (the bacon was too soft and, “why is there aioli on this?”), and since this place is French-inspired, be aware that picky, American food-lovers might not be thrilled. There’s always a Chocolate Croissant option for these people, though! That’s what we should have gone with.
Reservations are recommended, but they do take walk-ins for their patio seating. We made reservations and once we got there, they let us decide if we wanted inside or outside. I would have loved to sit outside on their adorable patio, but it was really hot the day we went, so we opted for inside (which was actually just as cute!).

Pancake Pantry
You have to try the legendary Pancake Pantry when you visit Nashville.
This place is legendary! Everyone in Nashville knows about Pancake Pantry and the infamous long line that you have to wait in to get in. Luckily the line moves fast, and if you’re lucky, there might not be a line at all! My sister and I went on a Friday at noon and were sat right away. Oh, and they recently opened for dinner on the weekend, so you can get your pancake fix at night, too!
There are over two dozen pancake flavors; my sister got the Banana Bread Pancakes and I got the Small Appetite Plate (1 egg, 4 silver dollar pancakes, and your choice of bacon or sausage). I also asked for a side of blueberry compote, and they were more than happy to give me some! This place has a country feel, similar to cracker barrel, and they serve regular coffee and no alcohol. It was a simple, wholesome, delicious experience!

Headquarters is the epitome of quaint… the space is only nine feet wide! It’s small, yet cozy, and they have a cute back patio where you can sit and enjoy your food and drink.

Even though it’s small, its rustic decor make it great for pictures. As of right now, they are letting you sit on their adorable back patio. Their food menu is small, but delicious! They have bagels, quiche, pastries, breakfast sandwiches and more. And the coffee was terrific! I can’t wait to go back.

Although their biscuits are wonderful, they also have a lot of other amazing food options: pictured below are the “Bonuts”: fried biscuit dough tossed in sugar, topped with lemon mascarpone, served over blueberry compote. OMG… so good. They also have coffee, cocktails, and beer!

I recommend ordering online for pick-up (right now with COVID they are doing curbside, so they’ll bring it right out to you). Just go to their website where you can order online, and it will let show you the current wait time. On peak days, don’t be surprised if the wait is an hour or two, so order before you’re hungry. My husband and I picked up our order (2 toasted everything bagels with cream cheese, iced coffee for him, iced coffee add almond milk for me) and went to Elmington Park and sat on a bench there to wolf it down. YUM.

They don’t take reservations but you can “get in line” on their website or by using their app… or just walk in. They have great options for gluten-free people like me (well I try to be anyway). I wouldn’t say this is a place you MUST GO if you’re in Nashville, but it’s a great place if you’re in the need for breakfast in the Green Hills area.

This place has awesome coffee, breakfast food is served until 5pm, and they have a huge selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, bagels, omelettes, desserts, and more.
One of my favorite coffee shops in Nashville, if not my favorite coffee shop in Nashville, is Frothy Monkey. They have multiple locations, with the smallest, coziest, and busiest being in 12 South. This place has awesome coffee and specialty lattes, breakfast food is served until 5pm, and they have a huge selection of soups, salads, sandwiches, bagels, omelettes, desserts, and more.
During peak days/hours, the 12 South location is slammed and you can expect a wait; put your name in, and do some shopping in the neighborhood. They’ll text you when your table is ready.

If you visit Nashville, this place has to be on your list! They have two locations in Nashville, by the way: 12 South and East Nashville. My husband and I enjoy the 12 South location, because we grab some pizza at Mafiaoza’s right next door beforehand, because pizza + donuts = the best date night ever.

Today’s breakfast date was at Dose in Nashville’s West End neighborhood. The thing I love about Dose is that they offer breakfast and lunch items all day, so you can get whatever you’re in the mood for at any given time.

Tyler and I grabbed a couple seats together in the back of the café, connected to the wi-fi, and got some work finished while we sipped on our coffee. I ordered an almond milk latte and the avocado toast (half order) and Tyler got an iced coffee and bagel with cream cheese. The thing I love about Dose is that they offer breakfast and lunch items all day, so you can get whatever you’re in the mood for at any given time. The entire experience was a pleasant one, and we will definitely be back again!
Tyler and I have also visited Dose’s other location in east Nashville, which was a bit bigger and offered alcoholic drinks in addition to coffee and tea. The east Nashville location also stays open a little later and offers a few more food options as well. We thoroughly enjoyed both experiences, but probably will go back to the West End café since it’s closer to our house.
